Frances for Sittingbourne and Sheppey

Sittingbourne and Sheppey need a real champion in Parliament.  I want to be that person and take the message to Westminster that the Liberal Democrats represent the future that local people deserve and want to see.

The Conservatives need to be held to account. They have let us all down with their mismanagement, austerity cuts and disregard for people’s lives and well-being. The impact on our cost-of-living, housing, health, education, social care, public transport is all around us. Not only that - the economy, environment and UK’s prosperity and status in the world are under tremendous threat and must be urgently addressed.

The general election will take place in extraordinary political times, and Our Party is the only one that is united by a clear vision. Together, we can do something amazing for the people of Sittingbourne and Sheppey.

What I believe

  • Our Liberal Democrat party, with its political will, values, leadership and policies, has the vision to make Britain world leading and a global influence.
  • We may have to fight for what is right for this country at the expense of our popularity and electoral success.
  • We need to be the centre ground for the sensible middle.
  • The EU has given us peace, prosperity and protection. Leaving threatens our security, the Good Friday Agreement and make us all poorer.  With strength and unity the 28 member states can act against  global threats and the climate crisis and environmental challenges.
  • The UK should be at the heart of the EU. Stronger together in Europe, and as the United Kingdom. A safe haven for the oppressed and dispossessed; the country of choice for work and as home for our European friends and neighbours
  • We need bold plans on housing, social care and generational social, political and economic justice to reduce poverty and inequality.
  • We need safe, secure and sustainable communities that people can identify with, take pride in and want to protect and leave to their children and grandchildren.
  • We need to open up horizons of hope and opportunity for all people and all parts of the UK.
